Born in 1983 in Morocco, lives and works in Ghent, Belgium.
After studying interior design, Mous Lamrabat discovered photography as a space of freedom and instant creation. A self-taught artist, he reinvented the codes of fashion photography with irony and tenderness, blending symbols of luxury and pop culture with Moroccan cultural roots and his own layered identity.
Resonating with the spirit of contrast and with the desire to make visible the struggles of humankind while rejecting all forms of discrimination, Mous uses the camera not to capture but to connect. His lens becomes a space of encounter, freedom and gentle confrontation.
At the core of his work lies the complexity of being Moroccan, African, Arab, European and Muslim all at once. Rather than explaining this multiplicity, he lives it through images that celebrate nuance, humour and empathy. His photographs are not statements but openings, bridges between the worlds he inhabits and those he seeks to understand.
His work has appeared in Vogue (US, Arabia, Italy, Portugal & Men), GQ Middle East and Vanity Fair, and he has collaborated with brands including YSL Beauty, Burberry, WhatsApp, Nike and Amina Muaddi. He has exhibited internationally in Just Pictures (curated by Antwaun Sargent, 2020), his solo show at FOMU Antwerp (2021) and Blessings from Mousganistan at Foam Museum Amsterdam (2022), released alongside his first monograph Mousganistan (Lannoo Editions, 2022).
