This November, NOMAD Abu Dhabi presents Destinations by Bottega Veneta, celebrating fifty years of the house’s Intrecciato leather weave.
Curated by Rana Beiruti, Destinations features eight designers from North Africa and the Middle East, each commissioned to reinterpret Bottega Veneta’s signature craft with local materials and ancestral techniques. The exhibition includes innovative leather pieces, sculptural works, and furnishings that each represent different places, traditions, and perspectives, while together reflecting Bottega Veneta’s commitment to cultural exchange and craft in all its forms.
Abdalla Almulla grounds Emirati weaving traditions in sculptural communal forms, while Amine Asselman’s leather landscapes ripple with motion and memory. Bahraini—danish transforms teak into interlocking structures of precision and patience. Esna Su’s hand-knitted leather pillars embody resilience and reinvention, while Shaha Raphael fossilizes the weave in volcanic stone, binding craft to geological time. Zein Daouk’s ceramics trace living networks of interdependence, and Nader Gammas builds luminous totems that bridge craft and technology. Finally, Sayar & Garibeh weave fiber and leather into playful architectures of movement and touch.
